Jesús Pupo is a Cuban pianist, composer, and arranger whose work stands at the intersection of tradition, virtuosity, and contemporary vision. Trained at Havana’s prestigious Amadeo Roldán Conservatory under masters such as Violeta Hemsy de Gainza, Jorge Luis Prats, Andrés Alén, and Arturo O’Farrill, he has developed a distinctive voice that moves seamlessly between symphonic writing, jazz, chamber music, and experimental electronic forms.

A versatile musical director and performer, Pupo is recognized for his refined reinterpretation of Cuban musical heritage, bringing a renewed sensibility to traditional forms. He is also part of the Richard Bona Asante Trio, expanding his presence within the global jazz circuit.

His work extends into musical theater and film, where his compositions have been featured in documentaries and premiered with the National Symphony Orchestra at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. As a collaborator, he has shared the stage with artists including Omara Portuondo, Francisco Céspedes, Danay Suárez, Richard Bona, and Carlos Varela, and has appeared in major televised events such as Premios Lo Nuestro.

His discography reflects both depth and evolution: Nevando en La Habana, a project of profound spiritual expressive weight, and ORO (EGREM, 2023), a bold big band statement rooted in Cuban identity. His upcoming album BIBIJAGUA, recorded at Criteria Studios in Miami, is set for release in May 2026.

In 2025, Pupo made his Broadway debut in the acclaimed musical Buena Vista Social Club, where he continues to perform the principal role of Young Rubén González, embodying the legendary pianist through both his acting and virtuosic command of the instrument.
