Jesús Pupo

Jesús Pupo is a Cuban pianist, composer, and arranger whose work stands at the intersection of tradition, virtuosity, and contemporary vision. Trained at Havana’s prestigious Amadeo Roldán Conservatory under masters such as Violeta Hemsy de Gainza, Jorge Luis Prats, Andrés Alén, and Arturo O’Farrill, he has developed a distinctive voice that moves seamlessly between symphonic writing, jazz, chamber music, and experimental electronic forms.

A versatile musical director and performer,. Pupo is known for his expressive piano playing and his ability to bring depth, authenticity, and virtuosity to Cuban repertoire. His work encompasses concert performance, musical theater, film, orchestral writing, and recording, reflecting a broad artistic range and a deep connection to his cultural heritage.

In 2025, Pupo made his Broadway debut in the acclaimed musical Buena Vista Social Club, where he performs the principal role of Young Rubén González. Combining acting with virtuosic piano performance, he brings the legendary Cuban pianist’s musical identity to the stage, contributing to the production’s vibrant portrayal of Cuba’s golden era of music.

His work beyond the stage includes original compositions, arrangements, orchestral projects, and film and documentary music. His discography includes Nevando en La Habana and ORO (EGREM, 2023), while his forthcoming album BIBIJAGUA, recorded at Criteria Studios in Miami, is scheduled for release in November 2026.
